Antique print, untitled. View of a landscape with a log bridge and road marker. A man leads three oxen over the bridge while a second figure rests in the foreground. Source unknown, to be determined. Provenance: Doublet of the Albertina collection, Vienna (Lugt 5f)Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Jean Sauveur LeGros’ after ‘Karl Philipp Schalhas’. Jean Sauveur/Salvator LeGros (1754-1834) originated from Versailles. He trained with Adam Bartsch and tyravelled extensively before settling in Belgium. Karl Philipp Schalhas (1767-1797) was an Austrian artist, working in Vienna.
Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped close to the platemark. A small inventory label pasted to the rear. Remains of attachment to carrier on the rear. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
