BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Political caricature published in 1900 during Paul Kruger’s visit to Europe amid the Second Boer War.
Biography engraver: Charles Leandre (1862-1930) was a French caricaturist, illustrator, and lithographer associated with journals such as Le Rire and L’Assiette au Beurre. Known for his expressive draftsmanship and sharp political satire, he produced numerous caricatures of political figures and contemporary events around 1900, including commentary on the Boer War.
