A Fawning Flatterer (…) – This scarce original antique print depicts a portrait of John Goodwin, half length, bearded, wearing skull-cap, collar and gown, and holding a book entitled ‘Hagio-Mastrix’; to the left, a hand offers him a book entitled ‘Moro-Mastrix’; above his head, a windmill, its sails being blown by two winds labelled ‘Errour’ and ‘Pride’; frontispiece to John Vicars, ‘Coleman St. conclave visited’ (1648).

From: John Vicars, ‘Coleman St. conclave visited’ originally published in London 1648. This ed. published by W. Richardson, London.

Made by George Glover after own design. George Glover (active 1634-1652) was active as an engraver and mainly made book illustrations.

Condition: Good, given age. A few thin spots, only visible on verso. Horizontal crease. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
