No. IX. Kaart van Nieuw Zuid Wales of de Oostelyke Kust van Nieuw Holland … 1770. This is map is not fully complete as the right part, printed from a seperate plate is missing. However in this ed. it is supplemented by a seperate newly engraved map showing northeast coast of Australia from the northern extremity of Cape York peninsula with Endeavour Strait to the Endeavour River and present day Cooktown. Size mentione in this lisitn is the size of the first map. This second map’s image is 32,5 x 29,2 cm. – (Map / Chart of Cooks Strait in New Zealand.) It seperates the north and south island of New Zealand. Present day Wellington, Marlborough Sounds, and Cloudy Bay are located in this part of the country.

Made by C. van Baarsel after an anonymous artist. Cornelis van Baarsel (1761-1826) was a Dutch engraver and draughtsman from Utrecht, active in Amsterdam. He worked with his son Willem Cornelis van Baarsel, L.E.F. Garreau and P.N. Tuyn.

Condition: Very good, given age. Original folds from binding. Left bottom margin remargined to fill gap from binding, not effecting image. Some creasing. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
