Plate 34: ‘De Heere Jesus wascht zijnen Discipelen de voeten. Joh. 13.’ (The Lord Jesus washing his Disciples’ feet, John 13). It shows: Jesus as the central figure, with an aureola around his head, in the process of washing feet. This original engraving originates from ‘Tafereelen der eerste Christenen, bestaande in 92 konstprenten’ (Scenes of the first Christians, in 92 prints). This book was published in 1740 in Amsterdam by Gerrity de Groot and Jacobus Rijkhof. The prints by Luyken are accompanied by texts by P. Langendyk and C. Condition: Very good, given age. Some small dark stains in the left margin, one dark stain in the right margin (not affecting image). Original middle fold. Some general age-related toning and thumbing, please study scan carefully.
