BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After a painting by Jan Antonisz van Ravesteyn; published in Amsterdam, 19th century (1834-1892).

Biography engraver: Edouard Taurel (1824-1892) was a Dutch engraver active in Amsterdam. He specialised in reproductive engravings after Old Master paintings, producing refined portrait prints during the 19th century.
Biography artist: Jan Antonisz van Ravesteyn (c.1572-1657) was a Dutch Golden Age portrait painter, active in The Hague. He portrayed prominent political and civic figures, and his works became important sources for later engraved portraits.
