This print shows a set table near the fire place with a woman and a roman soldier sitting. A maid stans behind the woman. Huge candlestick on the table. This print gives a good impression of how dark it was in houses at night before the electric light was invented.

Made by ‘Wenceslaus Hollar’ after an anonymous artist. Wenceslaus Hollar (1607 – 1677) was a prolific and accomplished Bohemian graphic artist of the 17th century, who spent much of his life in England. He is known to German speakers as Wenzel Hollar.

Condition: Good, given age. Smudges on reverse. In two corners remains of paper and glue. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
