Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 34 x 23.5 cm. The image size is ca. 27.5 x 15.5 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 13.4 x 9.3 inch. The image size is ca. 10.8 x 6.1 inch.
Plate, page 123: “Sonne-Dienst der Heydenen” (heathen sun worship). It shows various statues of figures from the Greek/Roman pantheon scattered around a landscape near a temple to Apollo. These statues feature: Vulcan, Venus, Phallus (=Priapus), Pan, Castor & Pollux, and others. This original engraving originates from: ‘Spiegel der Sibyllen, van Vierderley Vertooningen [etc.]’, by Johannes Aysma et al, published in 1685 in Amsterdam. (transl.: Mirror of sibyls / prophetess, of fourfold display.)Artists and Engravers: Artist and Engraver: Coenraet Decker (ca. 1650-1685) was a Dutch Golden Age engraver, and pupil of Romeyn de Hooghe.
Condition: Excellent given age. Original middle fold, small paper repairs to the rear of the sheet. General age related toning and light staining/thumbing. Please study scan carefully.
