Made by an anonymous engraver after Mather Brown.

Medium: Soft ground etchig with hand colouring. on wove (vellin) paper.

Sheet size: 24 x 30.4 cm (9.45 x 11.97 inch). Image size: 21 x 28 cm. (8.27 x 11.02 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The print was published by R. Ackermann, in Achermann’s Repository of the Arts, an illustrated British periodical published between 1809 and 1829. .

Biography engraver: After the painting by Mather Brown. Mather Brown (Boston, 1761 – London 1831) was a portrait and historical painter, born in the USA, but active in England. He was a pupil of Benjamin West. He died in poverty.
