Description

Etching on on thin china attached to wove paper.
Sheet size: 25,5 x 21,5 cm. (10 x 8,5 inch). Image size: 18,4 x 12,1 cm. (7,2 x 4,8 inch).

Made by ‘Charles Jacque’ after own design. Charles-Emile Jacque (1813-1894) was a very well respected French painter, sculptor and engraver / etcher of mostly landscapes and animals from Paris. He was trained as cartographic engraver. Later he developed a very free style in etching. He is considered one of the more interesting 19th. c. French artists.

Condition: Very good, given age. Light soiling. 2 Stains in right middle margin, not effecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
