Description

Etching / engraving on handlaid paper.
Sheet size: 13,5 x 22,3 cm. (5,3 x 8,8 inch). Image size: 7 x 10,5 cm. (2,8 x 4,1 inch).

This attractive print was published in: ‘Contes et nouvelles en vers’, by Jean de la Fontaine, Amsterdam 1762. Possibly a proof plate before captions.

Made by ‘Charles Dominique-Joseph Eisen’ after own design. Charles-Dominique-Joseph Eisen (17 August 1720 ? 4 January 1778) was a French painter and engraver.

Condition: Good, given age. Diagonal crease. Brown spots in margin nog effecting the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
