‘”ANNO 1681″ (ON THE CENTRAL FRAME, MEANT FOR A PASTED TITLE LABEL)’

– Architectural niche with room for a title to be sticked onto (“The English Atlas” usually in other copies), flanked by Charles II of England, with an orb and sceptre in his hands. He is accompanied by the seven vassals. Above it the Habsburg coat of arms and a garland with various coats of arms held by two eagles. These hint to it being directly modeled after an engraving by printmaker Crispijn van de Passe (II), published by Johannes Janssonius, in Amsterdam, namely: Portraits of Ferdinand II and the Seven Electors, a title page for: J. Jansson Nieuwen Atlas ofte Weerelts-Beschrijvinghe, 1658.
