Engraving and chiaroscuro woodcut on hand laid (vellin) paper with fragment of watermark. Sheet size: 17.5 x 21.2 cm.
Ref: Hollstein Dutch 36-155 2(2). Numbered 60 from a 17th.c. ed. of ‘Het teekenboek van Abraham Bloemaert’, published 1650-1700.
Made by Frederick Bloemaert after Abraham Bloemaert. Frederik Bloemaert (Utrecht 1614-1690) was a Dutch printmaker and draughtsman. Abraham Bloemaert (1566-1651) was a Dutch painter and etcher/engraver. He was one of the ‘Haarlem Mannerists’, but shifted towards a more Baroque style around 1600.
Condition: Very good, given age. Some soiling. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
