Description
This print shows the Spanish fleet nearby Plymouth being defeated by Francis Drake, leading the English fleet from 30th of July 1588. Due to the battle and a fearfull storm near Irland the Spanish arrived in Spain with 53 of the 130 original ships. Dutch text about the event.
Made by an anonymous engraver after Gottfried.
Medium: Engraving / etching on handlaid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 43.7 x 28 cm (17.2 x 11.02 inch). Image size: 13.5 x 10.2 cm. (5.31 x 4.02 inch).
Condition: very good, given age. Brownish edges. Fold in middle paper. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
