Engraving/etching with portraits and decorative border printed from seperate plates on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 17,5 x 25,3 cm. (6,9 x 10 inch). Image size: 13,7 x 19,3 cm. (5,4 x 7,6 inch).

From an ed. of A. Houbraken, ‘De groote schouburgh der Nederlantsche konstschilders en schilderessen […]’, 3 volumes, Amsterdam 1718-1721 and 2nd ed. Den Haag 1753 (Van Someren I, nr. 213 a en b).

Made by Arnold Houbraken after an anonymous artist. Jakob Houbraken (1698-1780) was a very productive Dutch 18th. Century engraver, who produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters.

Condition: Good, given age. Paper partly browned. A few small tears near the edges, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
