Made by Johann Georg Hertel I after Paulus II van Hillegaert.

Medium: Engraving / etching on hand laid (verge) paper.

Condition: good, given age. Some staining and thin paper from attachment. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

After an etching by Hillegaert. There also exists a mirror image print after the original by Jacob Jonckheer.

Biography engraver: Johann Georg Hertel (1719-1768) was a German engraver/printmaker working in Augsburg.

Biography artist: Paulus II van Hillegaert (1621-1658) was a draftsman, painter, etcher from Amsterdam.
