Made by ‘J. Basire’ after an anonymous artist. James Basire I (1730-1802) was a British printmaker, son of the map maker Isaac Basire. In 1760 he was appointed engraver for the Society of Antiquaries and engraved many valuable engraving of British monuments and edifices from the middle ages to the Renaissance.
Condition: Good, given age. Original folding as issued. Some small holes in left side from binding. Paper edges a bit irregular. Light soiling. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
