Antique print, titled: ‘Suspice Coelum, et numera Stellas … Gen XV.’ – Plate 14: An illustration to God’s Covenant with Abram. God appears to Abram in a vision to tell him that he will have offspring numbering as many as the stars. Meanwhile God points at the stars to the right. Genesis 15: 3-5. “Sacrae historiae acta a Raphaele Urbin. in Vaticanis xystis ad picturae miraculum expressa Nicolaus Chapron”, first published in Rome, 1649. This work contains plates engraved after Raphael’s Vatican murals. Ref: IconClass 71C1181.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Nicolas Chapron’ after an anonymous artist. The engraver of this work is Nicolas Chapron / Chaperon, French (1612-1656), designed after the Vatican murals by Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (1483-1520). Condition: Good, given age. Original tiny binding holes in the left margin (as issued, not affecting image). Some small stains in margin, not affecting image.
