Map : ‘Belgica Foedrata ….’ (Map of the Netherlands.) Copper engraved hand coloured map of the seven provinces, now the Netherlands. Stunning large cartouche with the coats of arms of Zeeland, Holland, Utrecht, Friesland, Groningen and Overijssel. Also depicted is Neptune and several sailing ships. Also a cartouche with scale. Published in Augsburg, 1761.Artists and Engravers: Tobias Conrad Lotter was born 1717 in Germany. He became a publisher and engraver in Augsburg. He was engaged by Matthias Seutter the elder as an engraver and married his daughter. He also was successful with his own business and became one of the better known German cartographers. After his death in 1777, the business was continued by his son Matthias Albrecht Lotter.

Condition: Excellent. general age related toning. some light staining from handling. Original middle fold as issued. A few tiny wormholes backed. Lower middle fold a bit separated, backed.
