Biography engraver: Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (1726-1798) was a Dutch collector, engraver, and printmaker. He was especially known for his innovations in printmaking techniques, including aquatint and mezzotint, and for his efforts to reproduce the qualities of original drawings in print form.

Biography artist: Jan Both (1610-1652) was a Dutch painter and printmaker from Utrecht, widely known for his landscape paintings and prints, particularly scenes set in the Italian countryside. He was one of the leading figures in Dutch landscape painting during the Golden Age.
