Description
Original antique master print : ‘Les Disciples d’Emaus’. (The disciples at dinner at Emmaus). This plate shows the biblical story of the supper at Emmaus. Only when Christ blesses the bread do his fellow diners recognise him.
Made by Claude Duflos after Paolo Veronese.
Medium: engraving / etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 62 x 61 cm (24.41 x 24.02 inch). Image size: 53 x 49 cm. (20.87 x 19.29 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Original fold, as issued. Margins slightly browned. Two small damp stains top left and right, not affecting image. Small tear bottom middle fold, backed, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

This original antique print was published in France, ca. 1700. Artists and Engravers: This plate engraved by Claude Duflos After Paul Veronese.
Biography engraver: Duflos (Paris 1665-1727) was a French engraver. It is not known by whom he was instructed, but his style resembles that of Francois de Poilly.
Biography artist: Paolo Caliari, known as Paolo Veronese (1528 – 1588) was an Italian Renaissance painter based in Venice, most famous for large history paintings of both religious and mythological subjects.
