Original antique master print. Plate : ‘Le Bouquet – Die Blumen’. (The Bouquet). This plate shows an 18th century interior scene, a young boy gives a bouquet of flowers to a woman (his mother?). Below the image a poem in French and German.

Medium: mezzotint engraving / etching on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 32.5 x 41 cm (12.8 x 16.14 inch). Image size: 32 x 39.5 cm. (12.6 x 15.55 inch).
Condition: fair, given age. Several imperfections, some creases and folds, a few repaired tears. A middle fold. Margins with many very small tears, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Johann Jakob Haid (1704-1767) was a German engraver who worked in Augsburg. His mezzotint engravings are well known – like his entire family is known for their mezzotint portraits.
