Medium: etching and mezzotint engraving on wove paper.
Sheet size: 54.5 x 70 cm (21.46 x 27.56 inch). Image size: 43.5 x 58 cm. (17.13 x 22.83 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Several repaired tears in het margins, one barely extending into image. A few small spots in the margins. Allmost everything will frame out nicely. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Alphonse Martinet (1821-1861) was a French engraver, student of Sixdeniers, P. Delaroche and Achille Martinet.
Biography artist: Francois-Claudius Compte-Calix, a French painter of genre subjects and portraits, was born at Lyons in 1813. He studied in the fine art school of his native city, and in the studio of J. C. Bonnefond, and first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1840.
