Biography engraver: Zacharias Dolendo (1561-1604) was a Dutch engraver and draftsman, pupil of Jacques de Gheyn II, known for his detailed engravings of biblical and allegorical subjects. Active in Leiden.

Biography artist: Karel van Mander (1548-1606) was a Flemish painter, poet, and art historian, active in Haarlem, also known as “the Dutch Vasari” for his Schilder-boeck.
