Antique Master Print, titled: ‘De Commando-brug, van Amsterdam naar ‘s Hage.’ – (The Command-bridge, from Amsterdam to the Hague.) The Amsterdam burgomaster Joachim Rendorp (1728-1792) was called the ‘Bridgemaker.’ This print satirizes his and the seven main cities and knights collapsing support for the Prince of Orange to remain in command of The Hague in 1786. A carriage with the Prince’s coat of arms is pulled by 9 horses and drops into the deep as the bridge collapses. In the background the profile of Amsterdam. Accompanied by a verse in 2 columns below. Dutch Patriot period (1780-1795) satirical print. Ref: FMH 4727 Artists and Engravers: Anonymous.

Condition: Very good, given age. Some light soiling. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
