BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Gabriel Perelle (1604-1677), French engraver and draftsman known for his classical landscapes with figures. He trained under Simon Vouet and later directed a successful family workshop. Many of his plates were originally published by Parisian dealers including Langlois. His sons Adam and Nicolas collaborated on many of his works.
