BACKGROUND INFORMATION
From the series Acht landschappen uit Bohemen (Eight Bohemian Landscapes). Published in Venice by Aegidius and Marcus Sadeler, with privilege of the Imperial Court.
Biography engraver: Aegidius Sadeler II (ca. 1570-1629) was a Flemish engraver active in Prague and Venice, working for the Imperial court. He was part of the famous Sadeler dynasty of printmakers.
Biography artist: Pieter Stevens II (ca. 1567-1626) was a Flemish painter and draftsman known for his atmospheric landscapes, active in Prague at the court of Rudolf II.
