BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published by William Dickinson, London, 1790. Dedicated to George IV.
Biography engraver: Francesco Bartolozzi (1727-1815) was an Italian engraver, whose most productive period was spent in London. He is noted for popularizing the “crayon” method of engraving.
Biography artist: Matthew William Peters (1742-1814) was an English portrait and genre painter who later became an Anglican clergyman and chaplain to George IV. He became known as “William” when he started signing his works as “W. Peters”.
