Biography engraver: Willem Jacobsz. Delff (1580?1638), Dutch engraver and painter, active in Delft. Known for finely detailed reproductive engravings after portraits by Michiel van Mierevelt and others. Son of Jacob Willemsz. Delff the Elder, he became one of the most important portrait engravers in the Netherlands.
Biography artist: Michiel van Mierevelt (1566?1641), Dutch portrait painter, one of the most successful portraitists of the Dutch Golden Age. His portraits of princes, statesmen, and military leaders were widely disseminated through engravings, especially by Willem Jacobsz. Delff.
