BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Lucas Vorsterman I (c. 1595?1675) was a Flemish Baroque engraver closely associated with Peter Paul Rubens. He was one of the leading engravers in Rubens’s workshop and known for his detailed and expressive portrait engravings.
Biography artist: Peter Paul Rubens (1577?1640) was a prolific Flemish Baroque painter, draughtsman, and diplomat. He maintained a large studio in Antwerp and was renowned for his Counter-Reformation altarpieces, portraits, landscapes, and historical paintings.
