Medium: Etching / engraving with hand colouring. on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 31.5 x 42 cm (12.4 x 16.54 inch). Image size: 30 x 41 cm. (11.81 x 16.14 inch).

Condition: fair, given age. A few tiny hloes, hardly visible. Foxing but mostly visible on verso. Edges soiled. Edges with a few small tears, backed. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published in London c. 1740.

Biography engraver: Simon Francois Ravenet I (1706-1774), French engraver, often signs as F. Ravenet; the date of his birth is given in French sources as 1706 and in English as 1721 (which must be wrong); trained by Jacques Philippe Lebas.

Biography artist: Jean Baptiste Pater (1695-1736), French painter and draughtsman.
