Biography engraver: Anthonie Waterloo (1609-1690) was a Dutch Golden Age landscape etcher and painter. Born in Lille, he likely trained himself. Waterloo supported himself as an art dealer and through sales of his prints and drawings. He lived and worked in Amsterdam, Leeuwarden, Maarssen, and Utrecht. His work was influenced by prominent Dutch landscape artists, and he became well known primarily for his drawings and etchings.
