BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Original antique master print. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Artists and Engravers: Engraved by Haid after a painting by Haid. This print was published by Jean Jacques Haid, in c.1760.

Biography engraver: Johann Jakob Haid (1704-1767) was a German engraver who worked in Augsburg. He came from a family of artists and engravers. He himself was mostly known for his large mezzotint portraits.
