BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Proof ed.of a military or uniform series, early 19th century. Early lithogaphy.

Provenance: With a collection mark H.G. in oval: Hector Giacomelli 1822-1904 (Lugt 1311).

Biography engraver: Denis Auguste Marie Raffet (1804-1860), a French illustrator and lithographer, was a student of Nicolas Toussaint Charlet. He was renowned for his military illustrations and retrospective depictions of the Napoleonic Empire.
