Condition: very good, given age. Light creasing, foxing and soiling. Some tears in bottom papaer edge, small pinhole. Remains of paper on rear from attachment. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published in Paris by Lingee and Chereau, ca. 1780-1790.

Biography engraver: Therese Eleonore Lingee (nee Therese-Eleonore Hemery; c.1750-1818) was a French engraver, known for her crayon manner stipple engravings. She engraved religious subjects, genre scenes and portraits. She was from a French family of engravers.

Biography artist: Jean-Baptiste Greuze (1725-1805) was a French painter noted for his sentimental genre scenes and expressive head studies, which became especially popular in reproductive prints.
