Original master print, titled: ‘Le Bois’. It shows an idyllic forest scene of a shepherd playing a flute near a log wooden bridge crossing a brook in the foreground. Three goats are near the sheperd at the edge of a thick forest.
Made by Carl Wilhelm I Kolbe after Salomon Gessner.
Medium: engraving / etching on wove paper.
Sheet size: 53 x 43 cm (20.87 x 16.93 inch). Image size: 46.5 x 36.5 cm. (18.31 x 14.37 inch).

Biography artist: Salomon Gessner (1730-1788) was a Swiss painter/poet. As a painter he represented the conventional classical landscape.
