Description
Subject: Antique print, titled: ‘Les Adieux d’ Hector et d’ Andromaque’, (Farewell to Hector and Andromache.) Hector and Andromache leaving Troy with their son Astyanax. In Greek mythology, Hector was a Trojan prince and the greatest fighter for Troy in the Trojan War. He was killed by Achilles. Andromache was the wife of Hector, daughter of Eetion, and sister to Podes. She was born and raised in the city of Cilician Thebe, over which her father ruled.
Condition: Excellent, given age. A few small tears in bottom and top margin, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching and engraving on a verge type hand laid paper.
