Medium: Copper engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 39 x 48.5 cm (15.35 x 19.09 inch). Image size: 36 x 45 cm. (14.17 x 17.72 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling. A few pinsize holes at top left. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published in Udine, 1769.

Biography engraver: Cristoforo Dall’Acqua (1734-1787) was an Italian engraver from Vicenza, active in the second half of the 18th century. He worked mainly in Udine and Venice, translating paintings into detailed copper engravings.

Biography artist: Salvator Rosa (1615-1673) was a prominent Italian Baroque painter, etcher, and poet, known for dramatic historical and literary scenes, as well as wild, romantic landscapes.
