Medium: Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 43.2 x 34.9 cm (17.01 x 13.74 inch). Image size: 39.2 x 28.8 cm. (15.43 x 11.34 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light foxing, creasing and soiling. Oridinal vertical middle fold. Pinsize hole at top left. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Gaetano Testolini (active c.1760-1818) was a Italian printmaker, publisher and supplier of artist materials active in Paris and London. In London he worked for Bartolozzi from 1785.

Biography artist: Nicolaes Berchem (1620?1683) was a Dutch Golden Age painter and etcher of idyllic Italianate landscapes, often featuring herders, travelers, and animals.
