Medium: Etching and engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, frayed margins, staining at bottom, old mounting traces on verso. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published by Jan Punt and Pieter Tanje in Amsterdam, 1754. Later reissued with address of P. Fouquet Jr.

Reference: Muller 3985/30, Niemeyer 699 T.

Provenance: From collection of Gerrit Braamcamp (original painting).

Biography engraver: Jan Punt (1711-1779) and Pieter Tanj? (1706-1761) were prominent 18th-century Dutch engravers, often collaborating on reproductions of Dutch genre paintings.

Biography artist: Cornelis Troost (1697-1750) was a Dutch painter and actor known for theatrical and satirical scenes, especially depictions of bourgeois interiors and officers.
