Condition: fair, given age. With several restaurations, but still a nice plate with the image in good condition. Several thin paper spots, and several tears in the paper edges, backed. A few very small tears in image, barely noticable. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
After a painting by Domenichino; part of a set of oval compositions engraved by Gerard Audran, c.1670-1703.

Biography engraver: Gerard Audran (1640?1703), French engraver, one of the most prominent printmakers of the Louis XIV period. He studied in Paris under his father and later in Rome under Carlo Maratta. Appointed engraver to the king in 1681, he is renowned for reproducing works by Nicolas Poussin, Charles Le Brun, and Italian masters.
Biography artist: Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri, 1581?1641), Italian Baroque painter, pupil of the Carracci, active in Rome and Naples. Known for his clarity of composition and religious works, which were widely disseminated through engravings.
