Published in ‘Eaux-Fortes et Gravures des Maitres anciens, Tirees des Collections les Plus Celebres’ by Edouard Lievre and Georg Duplessis, 1872-75.
Biography engraver: Charles Amand Durand (1831?1905) was a French engraver renowned for reproducing Old Master prints using heliogravure and related techniques. Commissioned by the Louvre, he produced high-quality facsimiles of works by artists such as Rembrandt, D?rer, Van Dyck and Lucas van Leyden, helping preserve and disseminate images of fragile original engravings.
Biography artist: Lucas van Leyden (1489/1494?1533) was one of the most important printmakers of the Northern Renaissance. Active in Leiden, he became famous for his technically refined engravings and complex narrative compositions that influenced generations of European printmakers.
