Biography engraver: Paulus Pontius (1603-1658) was a Flemish engraver and one of the principal interpreters of Anthony van Dyck’s portrait paintings. He was active in Antwerp and collaborated with Rubens as well.
Biography artist: Sir Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) was a Flemish Baroque painter, best known for his elegant portraits of aristocrats. His Iconographie series, engraved by various printmakers, became a key reference in 17th-century portraiture.
