Medium: Etching and stipple engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Sheet size: 43 x 38.8 cm (16.93 x 15.28 inch). Image size: 40.5 x 36 cm. (15.94 x 14.17 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, creasing, and soiling. Some dampstaining at top margin. Trimmed withn plate mark on alle side except the bottom. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Published in Paris in 1793 by Louis Brion de la Tour; sold by Charles Bance jeune. Part of the series „Evènements (ordre chronologique)’.

Biography engraver: Louis Brion de la Tour fils (c. 1765–1823) was a French engraver, publisher and printmaker active during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods, known for historical and political engravings documenting contemporary events. Louis Brion de la Tour fils produced numerous engravings depicting scenes from the French Revolution and important political events of late eighteenth-century France.
