BACKGROUND INFORMATION

This attractive print was published ca 1670 by Justus Danckerts. Justus Danckerts (1635-1701), Dutch engraver and etcher from Amsterdam. Brother of Dancker Danckerts.

Provenance: Two stamps on reverse. One “dubbel RPK” (Lugt 2233) and the other a circle with a coat of arms & KONING BIBLIO (Lugt 240), both from the Rijksprentenkabinet Amsterdam.

Biography artist: Johannes Visscher (1633-na 1692), was a Dutch engraver and etcher and brother from Cornelis and Lambert Visscher. Nicolaas Pietersz. Berchem, (Haarlem, 1622 – Amsterdam, 18 februari 1683) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, and etcher. He is best known for his pastoral Mediterranean landscapes.
