BACKGROUND INFORMATION

After a painting by Jean Raoux; held at Certosa e Museo Nazionale di San Martino, Naples, engraved and published by Nicolas de Launay, Paris.

Biography engraver: Nicolas de Launay (1739-1792) was a French engraver and court artist known for his refined reproductive engravings after paintings by Boucher, Van Loo, and others. Active in Paris in the second half of the 18th century.

Biography artist: Jean Raoux (1677-1734) was a French Rococo painter known for theatrical and literary scenes. His works often depicted scenes from mythology or romantic literature with expressive characters and elegant settings.
