‘AMUSEMENTS CHAMPETRES / RURIS DELICIAE.’

– An idyllic pastoral scene with elegantly dressed figures resting and interacting in a wooded landscape. A seated woman is courted by a man who places flowers in her hair, while other figures recline in the grass. Children play nearby under trees, with a distant village visible in the background. And two cherubs play with a goat. The composition evokes leisure, love, and rural pleasure typical of Watteau’s fetes galantes.
