Medium: Etching on hand laid (verge) paper. Watermark: circle with initilals.

Sheet size: 49.5 x 33.4 cm (19.49 x 13.15 inch). Image size: 39.3 x 29 cm. (15.47 x 11.42 inch).

Condition: very good, given age. Light creasing and soiling. 2 small pinsize holes in lower part of print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography engraver: Carle Vanloo (1705?1765) was a renowned French Rococo painter and etcher, known for his academic figure drawings and grand historical compositions. He served as the first painter to the King and was highly regarded for his contribution to the teaching of art.
