BACKGROUND INFORMATION

This print was published in Germany c. 1605. Part of an album with history prints ‘Geschichtsblatter’ by (the workshop of) Hogenberg. This is one of the larger plates in this work.

Biography engraver: Frans Hogenberg (1535-1590) was a Flemish and German painter, engraver, and mapmaker.
