Antique map, titled: ”The North West Coast of England from Walney Island to St. Bees Head […].” – A coast chart of northwest England, from Warton and Barrow-in-Furness (Morecambe Bay) to St. Bees. Shows several coastal towns, depth soundings and current directions. With two inset profiles (the hills of Cumberland and Isle of Man). Published in London. Map printed from two sheets and joined just right of the middle fold. These type of charts are scarse as they were actually used at sea for navigation.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Thomas Bowen’ after ‘M. Mackenzie’.

Condition: Good, given age. Original middle fold, as issued. Numerous small tears in the top and lower margins (partly closed with acid-free archival tape). Creases in the margins. A small tear in the lower middle fold (not affecting image). Faintly discoloured in the middle fold. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
